Point of Ayr: Light beam operation

As part of the ongoing decommissioning works at the Point of Ayr (PoA) Terminal, a bird management measure will be introduced to sensitively discourage birds from gathering in the works area during the breading season.
Light beam activation
From Monday 10 August 2026, a green light beam will be used within the Terminal boundary each night from dusk until dawn. Residents may notice the beam on site during this period. It will follow a mapped route around the decommissioning areas within the terminal site and will remain directed towards the ground at all times.

The use of the light beam has been approved by Flintshire County Council and is expected to continue until late September 2026.
