Our construction contractor, United Infrastructure (UI), has been granted a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) by Flintshire County Council (FCC) to temporarily close Chester Road, Northop Hall. This is to allow UI to complete a utility trial trench, as part of the construction of the Main Onshore Pipeline (the Pipeline).
As a result, Chester Road will be closed for approximately five days, starting the week commencing 17 August 2026. Once the Pipeline has been installed and the works are complete, Chester Road will re-open and operate as normal from 5pm Friday 21 August 2026 (subject to progress).
Further updates regarding Chester Road will be uploaded to the Latest News section on the HyNet Hub should there be any changes to the dates outlined above.
A utility trial trench is a short, narrow excavation dug to expose and verify underground services such as water, gas, electricity, telecommunications and drainage infrastructure, within a planned works area.
These works will require the temporary closure of Chester Road and implementation of diversion routes, as a section of the road must be excavated. A proposed diversion route has been agreed with FCC in advance and is shown in the map below.
