Main Onshore Pipeline: Temporary lane narrowing on A41 Liverpool Road

Temporary traffic management measures required for construction compound access
Our construction contractor, United Infrastructure (UI), has been granted a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) by Cheshire West and Chester Council to implement a temporary lane narrowing measure on the northbound lane of A41 Liverpool Road, travelling from Chester towards Ellesmere Port.

This is in place to allow UI to safely access a trenchless crossing compound to the left side of Liverpool Road, which is being used as part of the construction of the Main Onshore Pipeline (the Pipeline).

As a result, the northbound lane of Liverpool Road will be temporarily narrowed for approximately five days, starting the week commencing 5 October 2026 (subject to progress). Once the works are complete, the temporary traffic management measures will be removed, and the road will operate as normal from Friday, 9 October 2026 (subject to progress).

What to expect during these works

Warning signs will be installed along A41 Liverpool Road to provide motorists travelling northbound with advance notice that the lane will narrow.

These signs will help to ensure road users are aware of the traffic management arrangements before reaching the works area.

Why are these measures in place?

These measures have been designed to maintain the safe movement of traffic while allowing construction vehicles to safely enter and leave the trenchless crossing compound. A detailed map of the traffic management measures and works area can be found here.

Further updates regarding these works will be uploaded to the Latest News section on the HyNet Hub.
