Main Onshore Pipeline: Update on Parkgate Road

Temporary traffic management measures are now in place as part of the Main Onshore Pipeline's auger boring programme beneath Parkgate Road.
United Infrastructure (UI), our Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractor, has implemented temporary traffic management measures on Parkgate Road, Saughall this week, as part of the Main Onshore Pipeline's (the Pipeline's) construction programme.

These measures are in place to facilitate the pre-construction drainage works (more information about these works can be found here) and ensure the safety of the community and on-site project team. They also keep traffic flowing as freely as possible while preparatory works for the Pipeline's auger boring programme commence.

These temporary traffic management measures are scheduled to take place across the next 2-weeks from today Monday, 26 January to Friday, 6 February 2026. These measures have been approved by Chesire West and Chester Council (CWCC) in advance. More information on these works can be found in the live roadworks section of the CWCC website here.

What to expect as part of these measures

Road users can expect a series of the following temporary traffic management measures:
  • Temporary traffic lights to support a two-way traffic signal system, helping to coordinate traffic and reduce bottlenecks.
  • Clear road signage with site access warnings positioned as drivers approach Parkgate Road, giving you an advanced notice of works.
  • Traffic marshals will be visible and on hand to manage construction vehicle movements safely as they enter and exit the construction compounds.

About Auger boring

Auger boring installs the Pipeline under the ground by pushing a steel casing or tube through the soil while a rotating helical auger (spiral tool) brings the soil out of the casing.

Further updates about works around Parkgate Road will be added onto the HyNet Hub Latest News section in advance.
