Two projects, the PoA Cable Route Foreshore Works and the PoA Decommissioning and Site Preparation Works, are preparing the PoA Terminal to safely transport and store Carbon Dioxide in the depleted gas fields beneath Liverpool Bay as part of the HyNet North West industrial decarbonisation cluster. You can find out more about the developments here: https://hynethub.co.uk/poa.
Warren Farm and Talacre Beach activity
From Wednesday 25 February, construction works at Warren Farm and Talacre Beach will take place for 12 hours a day, from 7am to 7pm. Some activities will need to be carried out 24 hours a day to ensure the project can be completed safely and as efficiently as possible. Activity that requires 24 hour working is expected to last approximately four weeks, subject to project progress.
Residents may notice increased vehicle movements in and out of the area, along with some construction noise. Large vehicles will use the Gas Terminal access road before crossing Station Road into Warren Farm, to minimise traffic impact on Station Road.
These works form part of the early PoA Cable Route Foreshore Works, which include the installation of new electric and fibre-optic cables between the PoA Terminal and the New Douglas Offshore CCS Platform.
Activity at the PoA Terminal
Construction activities at the PoA Terminal and the surrounding Colliery area are now underway.
During this phase, residents may notice an increase in activity, including noise, vehicle movements, lighting measures and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (also known as 'drones'). All work will be carried out in permitted working hours, 08:00-18:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00 to 13:00 on Saturday, with an hour either side for site preparation and close-down.
Invasive non-native plants clearing works
Coneaster clearing works are ongoing at the Colliery. The affected area has been fenced off to safely manage the removal of these invasive non-native plants.
