Our Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractor, United Infrastructure and its specialist tunnelling subcontractor, Joseph Gallagher Limited, are set to begin microtunnelling operations beneath the A494 Aston Hill in the week commencing 15 June 2026.
Microtunnelling is a trenchless tunnelling technique that will bury the Pipeline deep beneath the ground, ensuring minimal disruption to key infrastructure, transport routes and environmentally sensitive areas. This means the A494 will remain fully operational during the works.
Microtunnelling works require 24-hour operations to ensure the safety of the tunnel and construction team. For the A494 Aston Hill, these works are due to take place over six days, starting the week commencing 15 June 2026 (subject to progress).
More information about 24-hour microtunnelling works is provided in the microtunnelling factsheet here.
If you have any questions or concerns about the works beneath the A494 Aston Expressway, please email the project team at hello@hynethub.co.uk or call the project phoneline at 0113 395 4495.
